Challenge 

A leading F&B chain that originated as a restaurant serving British soldiers in Singapore during the colonial period found it increasingly difficult to manage voluminous financial data from more than 20 outlets islandwide. Much time was spent on consolidation of outlets’ financial statements from multiple merchant banks and manual data entry into the company’s Sage 300 system. This manual process also presented a high risk of human error. Consequently, the company turned to Stone Forest IT (SFIT) for a solution.




Solution

SFIT evaluated the client’s requirements and proposed a customised Sage 300 General Ledger Import utility with the following capabilities:

  • Validate monthly statements from merchant banks — including Citibank and American Express — that come in various formats such as HTML, Excel, CSV, XML and TXT
  • Automatically extract and import only relevant data into Sage 300
